Can we reduce our emissions?
01—
What does the customer gain?
As one of the world’s leading sports apparel brands and a member of the Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action (UNFCCC), our client has pledged to make a 30% reduction in emissions across its full value chain by 2030.
Fashion and apparel is a carbon-intensive industry and as a consumer-facing brand, the stakes are high for our client to deliver on its target.
This company needed a strong partner supporting it to reach this ambitious target, as over 70% of its emissions originate from an extensive supply chain, mainly located in Asia.

In a nutshell
The company set the challenging target of reducing its absolute emissions across the value chain by 30% before 2030.
This requires a strong focus on its suppliers, as over 70% of the clients’ emissions come from its supply chain. With a 6% annual growth target, a 30% absolute emission reduction goal against a 2017 baseline is very ambitious.
The supply chain is based in Asia, which is currently a challenging market for renewable energy solutions.

What we did
The main task was to advise the organisation with regards to their renewable energy strategy, carving out a roadmap and matching solutions in Asia.
Besides that, the evaluation of approaches for driving their renewable energy targets was key in conjunction with pinpointing the emission hotspots.
At the same time, act renewable oversaw the dPPA program in Vietnam. All in all, the mandate was to define and execute a suitable renewable energy strategy while at the same time supporting the company and its large supply chain on the journey to meet its 2030 commitment.
At act renewable, a joint venture of BayWa r.e. and RESET Carbon, we are proud to be working alongside our client to achieve this 2030 goal. Ambitious targets require commitment and decisive action – we are honored to be supporting a client who has a pioneering approach within its industry.
