Our Executive Board
CEO
Matthias Taft was born in Munich in 1967. From 1988 to 1993, he studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Munich. In addition, he studied industrial engineering at the University of Hagen from 1997 to 2001.
In 2003, Matthias took over the management of RENERCO Renewable Energy Concepts AG and since 2013 has been responsible for the management of BayWa r.e. renewable energy GmbH. In addition, Matthias was responsible for the Renewable and Conventional Energy divisions as a member of the Board of Management of BayWa AG from 2015 to 2021.
Since 2021, he has been CEO of BayWa r.e. AG.
Global Director of Projects
Daniel Gäfke is Global Director of Projects and a Member of the Management Board of BayWa r.e. AG since November 1st 2023.
Daniel has more than two decades of experience in the renewable energy industry. He is responsible for BayWa r.e.’s onshore Wind and Solar Projects businesses in EMEA and APAC. He also oversees its Energy Solutions business, which helps corporations in their energy transition.
Before joining BayWa r.e., Daniel founded and managed Annex Power and also co-founded and managed PETRO Umwelt- und Tanktechnik GmbH. Furthermore, he played a key role in building up Conergy Asia Pacific’s Indochina business, where he was involved in the region’s first major Solar, Wind and Bioenergy projects.
Daniel studied Business Administration at the University of Bielefeld, the University of Leicester, and KEDGE Business School. He holds a diploma in Business Administration, an MBA, and a Master of Science degree. Additionally, he holds a Euro-Asia Doctorate degree in Business Administration (DBA) under the joined program of KEDGE, Hong Kong Baptist and Ranepa Universities.
CRO
Felix Colsman was born in 1971. He studied economics at the University of Bonn and business administration at the University of Cologne and the INSEAD Business School in France.
After holding management positions at the Boston Consulting Group, Minimax, Johnson Controls, and DAH Group, he joined BayWa r.e. in 2024 as Chief Restructuring Officer. Felix has a proven track record of restructuring and consolidating ailing companies, guiding them through their financial reorganisation and on to new achievements.
Felix lives in Hamburg together with his family.

Chairman of the Supervisory Board
Recently, Michael served as Chief Restructuring Officer and executive board member at the multi-billion global tier one automotive supplier BENTELER.
His industry expertise also covers energy, retail, consumer goods, industrial goods, telecom, and media.
Earlier this month, our majority shareholder BayWa AG appointed Michael as their Chief Restructuring Officer and Chief Representative. He works closely with the Board of Management at BayWa AG and is responsible for all matters related to the group’s restructuring.
Vice Chairman of the Supervisory Board
Roland Dörig founded Energy Infrastructure Partners (EIP) in 2014. He is one of two managing partners of EIP and a member of its investment committee. He also sits on several boards of directors of EIP portfolio companies.
Previously, he was a founding partner of The Advisory House, a strategy consultancy for the European energy sector. Prior to that, he worked at an international management consultancy, specializing in European utilities. During his time as a consultant, he gained extensive project expertise amongst others in corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and implementing energy trading and risk management.
Roland Dörig holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Applied Sciences, St. Gallen.

Andreas Helber has been CFO of BayWa AG since 2010. He also represents the company in management and supervisory bodies of international holdings.
He joined BayWa in 2000 as Head of Finance. Subsequently, he took over as Head of Investor Relations and was granted general power of attorney in 2007. Earlier, he worked as a business graduate at KPMG Deutsche-Treuhand-Gesellschaft AG in Munich. During this time, he was appointed tax consultant and auditor.
Andreas Helber holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Siegen.
Member of the Supervisory Board
Ruedi Noser (born 1961) is an entrepreneur and member of the Council of States. Since 1996, he has been the owner of the Noser Group, which today is one of the largest ICT companies in Switzerland with more than 700 employees. The Group's expertise lies in the field of IT.
His political career began in 1999 when he was elected to the Zurich Cantonal Council. In 2003, he was elected to the Swiss Parliament as a National Councillor. From November 2015 to 2023, he represented the canton of Zurich in the Council of States.
Ruedi Noser was Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Switzerland Innovation, an organisation that aims to bring global corporations and their research departments to Switzerland. He is also committed to promoting young entrepreneurs and was President of Young Enterprise Switzerland for many years.
Member of the Supervisory Board
Tim Marahrens is the Co-Head of Investments at Energy Infrastructure Partners (EIP). He joined EIP shortly after it was founded in 2014. Since then, he has been responsible for many of EIP’s landmark transactions, particularly in the global renewables sector. This includes the successful acquisition and construction of the 1,000 MW wind park Fosen Wind, Europe’s largest onshore wind park. He also sits on several boards of directors of EIP portfolio companies.
Before joining EIP, he worked in investment banking in the power & utilities sector at UBS and Merrill Lynch, among others.
Tim Marahrens holds a dual master’s degree in Financial Mathematics from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich, and the University of Zurich.
Member of the Supervisory Board
Dr. Suzanne Thoma has been Executive Chairman of Sulzer Ltd since 1st November 2022. Prior to that, she served as Sulzer Chairman of the Board of Directors since April 2022. She was CEO of the BKW Group until the end of June 2022. She led this company for nine and a half years, transforming it from a traditional Swiss utility into an international energy and infrastructure company.
After completing her studies and doctorate at the ETH, she began her career at Ciba Spezialitätenchemie AG, where she held various management positions in Switzerland and abroad. She then went on to lead a start-up specialising in high-tech materials and technology licensing, Rolic Technologies AG.
Suzanne Thoma is a member of the Board of Directors of the Swiss Venture Group, Vice-President of the "think tank" Avenir Suisse and was appointed Honorary Councillor of ETH Zurich last autumn.

Reinhard Wolf was appointed to the BayWa AG Board of Management in 2013.
He began his career at the Österreichische Raiffeisen Warenzentrale in Vienna in 1985 after completing a degree in agricultural engineering.
In May 2009, he was appointed Director of the Board of Management of BayWa’s affiliated group RWA (Raiffeisen Ware Austria) and has been Chief Executive Officer and General Director of RWA, based in Korneuburg near Vienna, Austria, since March 2013.
